Description
The Alocasia Black Velvet (Alocasia reginula, Jewel Alocasia) is an exotic, rare Aroid. Its black, heart shaped leaves have a velvet look, but are in fact a bit rough to the touch. These dark leaves combine beautifully with the silvery, luminous veins and near-white stems. The plant is also known as Alocasia reginula. Reginula means ‘Little Queen’ in Latin, which is an excellent description for this rare, regal beauty.
Place the Alocasia Black Velvet in a light spot, but not in direct sunlight. Water de Alocasia moderately. During summer, allow the top layer of the potting soil to dry before watering again. During winter you can allow the potting soil to dry completely between intervals. This will usually come down to watering once a week during winter, and thrice a week during summer. Make sure never to overwater the Alocasia reginula, as any standing water at the base can cause the roots to rot. We recommend placing a layer of hydro granules at the bottom of the pot to before potting the plant.
